Example of Duties:

Therapy:

• Schedules residents for therapy
• Implements physical therapy plans initiated by professional staff, including ambulation, range of motion, and exercise classes
• Assists residents in the safe practice of therapy plan activities and encourages them to participate
• Implements occupational therapy programs initiated by professional staff including feeding, eye/hand coordination, dressing program, and activities of daily living
• Prepares equipment and ensures availability of supplies for use in therapy
• Monitors and records residents participation, responses, and progress
• Instructs residents and families in simple treatment procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Resident care:

• Providing personal hygiene care to geriatric residents
• Taking and recording vital signs
• Feeding, lifting, positioning, transporting, and escorting residents
• Reports and documents observations made during direct resident care
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Some knowledge of:

• Body mechanics

Experience:

• Monitoring and recording progress of residents' therapy
• Taking and recording residents' vital signs
• Observing and recording changes in residents' behaviors and symptoms

Certification:

• Prior to hire applicants are required to have completed competency testing and be eligible for placement on the Board of Nursing state registry as a Nursing Assistant

Minimum Qualification Specialty:

• Must have a valid regular driver's license
