S. Fish and Wildlife Service guidelines and requirements. Aquatic resources include native and other resident marine and freshwater fish and aquatic species, and their habitats; coral; seaweed; and other sea life.This class reflects responsibility for the aquatic resources informational and educational program activities for an island district. The work involves identifying educational needs; consulting with school, community groups and organizations on problems and concerns involving aquatic resources; gathering and compiling data on aquatic resources and fishing, analyzing information, and developing informational and educational activities; developing and testing informational and educational strategies and materials for statewide use; and selecting, training and evaluating volunteers to assist with informational and educational activities. Positions in this class also accompany Aquatic Biologists in conducting aquatic resources surveys, and serve as liaison between the State's aquatic resources informational and educational program and federal and State agencies, community leaders, the fishing public, and other aquatic resources users; and perform other related duties as assigned. To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:Legal Authorization to Work:The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.Basic Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.Education/Training Experience: One and one-half (1 1/2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in program of training or education as an instructor, or other comparable professional position. Such experience must have involved and demonstrated knowledge of basic education or training methods and techniques, and the ability to identify education/training needs and provide instruction to students or groups, and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, including speaking before groups.Specialized Experience: One year of responsible professional work experience in an aquatic resource program which provided knowledge of aquatic resources conservation and protection issues, concerns and practices in Hawaii; and laws, rules, regulations and functions of federal, State and local government agencies involved with aquatic resources management and/or conservation.Special Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of important recreational and commercial fish species of the State of Hawaii and the Pacific area, fishing methods and types of fishing gear, and Hawaii State fishing rules and regulations.Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.The information provided above represents a summary of the complete Minimum Qualification Requirements .
