State of Georgia is Hiring a Mgr 1, Env. Protection Near Albany, GA

This position is in the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Southwest District Office located in Albany, Georgia.
This position is responsible for managing the activities of Environmental Specialists, reviewing and approving letters, inspection reports and enforcement actions and negotiating settlements of enforcement actions. The position is managing the Solid Waste, Air Quality and Stormwater unit in the Southwest District Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in state and federal government environmental compliance and enforcement programs
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary regulatory programs
  • Demonstrated skills and ability in negotiation, influence, and conflict resolution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • OSHA 40 training, Level 1B Certified Inspector, and/or Landfill Certification

Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, geology, engineering (agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical or sanitary) or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of professional experience in environmental enforcement, environmental health, environmental monitoring, environmental protection or environmental research. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis for a maximum of Two years non-managerial/supervisory experience.
