State of Georgia is Hiring an Inspection Near Forest, GA

STATE PROFILE SUMMARY : Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in one or more of the following areas : materials, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental and traffic.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors and inspects material supplier facilities for compliance with specifications and QPL approval process. Trouble-shoots materials and testing problems and make recommendations.

Monitors quality control programs of material suppliers and producers and evaluates quality control technicians. Reviews material test results for compliance with specifications and consistency.

Prepares and submits monthly inspection reports and supplier audits. Prepares written failing material reports and correspondence to Branch Chief, Area Engineers and others recommending actions to be taken.

Assist in training and certifying supplier quality control testing technicians and DOT testing personnel in material sampling and testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications.

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related OR
  • Associate's degree in a related field OR
  • One year of experience at position equivalent.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess working knowledge of and experience in materials sampling and testing, policies, and procedures for material acceptance testing and / or material specification requirements.
  • Working level knowledge of sampling, testing and inspecting of roadway construction materials.
  • Experience recording test data, label samples and / or prepare reports pertaining to sampling and testing.
  • Experience reading and comprehending standard testing manuals, appropriate charts, and graphs.
  • Experience composing and preparing specifications, technical reports, and general correspondence.
  • Experience performing technical services related to construction materials, production, and placement processes.
  • Committed to providing quality customer service.
  • Possesses a valid Georgia Driver's License is required.
  • Requires traveling to various supplier facilities including out of State locations for inspection.
  • Working level knowledge using computers, computer applications and / or other technology to analyze and communicate laboratory testing information.

Good Employment Standing

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing.

Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date);

Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation.

Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action;

however, if the action is resolved in the employee's favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
