State of Georgia is Hiring an Equipment technician Near Macon, GA

JOB SUMMARY : Under the direct supervision of the Elections Equipment Rollout Base Leader and general supervision of the Elections Equipment Rollout Project Leader, the Regional Elections Equipment Rollout Technician works as part of a team to transport, quality assurance test, implement, and inventory various voting equipment.

This position supports the mission of the Office of the Secretary of State to ensure secure and fair elections in Georgia.

This position will be based at the Secretary Of State Professional Licensing Board Division offices in Macon. Mandatory in-person initial onboarding and training for this position will take place from June 17th-19th.

The expected regular work schedule of this position is Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 6 PM but is subject to change depending on operational need.

Extended workdays and overnight travel will be required based on operational need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts equipment inventory and acceptance testing of new equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Performs quality assurance tests on various components of the voting system.
  • Collaborates with fellow team members and supervisors regarding inventory and testing results, delays, and any other issues that may impact the project.
  • Actively tests equipment to identify errors or defects and to ensure that all units meet specifications set forth in testing criteria.
  • Complete written and / or electronic documentation of equipment test results and inventory results in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Ensures the security of all elections equipment during testing / inventory activities by following established processes and chain of custody procedures in accordance with legal requirements and any additional Elections Division policies.
  • Daily loading and unloading of vehicles and transportation of equipment between state and county facilities including routine lifting of items weighing 70 pounds.
  • Drives state and privately owned vehicles in support of the project.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to act with integrity, discretion, and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive data.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and multitask.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work 10-12-hour workdays (including travel time).
  • Ability to travel (in-state non-overnight) up to 100 percent of the time (four days a week) based on operational needs.
  • Ability to travel (in-state overnight) up to 25 percent of the time (one night a week) based on operational needs.
  • Utilizes good written and interpersonal communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in an elections, inventory management, or quality assurance environment or other relevant workforce experience.

Candidates who have practical working experience in a program or setting regulated by ordinance or public sector policies are preferred.

  • An associate or bachelor's degree from a nationally accredited college or university in a related field is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in elections is highly desirable.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license.

Bachelors Degree and One (1) year of work related experience OR Associates Degree in Business Administrative Technology and Two (2) years of related work experience Note : Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
