State of Georgia is Hiring an Attorney - Legal Services - 00119664 Near Forsyth, GA

Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university AND license to practice law in the State of Georgia OR eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination OR reciprocity (must obtain Law License).
Preference will be given to applicants who already are members in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working in a law office representing a governmental entity.
2. Experience dealing with requests for documents under the Open Records Act.
3. Experience working in a correctional or law enforcement setting.
4. Experience reviewing and analyzing pleadings, subpoenas, and similar documents.
5. Employment law experience.
6. Civil rights law experience; and
7. Experience providing instruction to adults in a classroom setting.

Notes:

The GDC seeks two (2) attorneys to join its Office of Legal Services, which means this posting will fill two positions (00119664/ 00119616) from the pool of applicants. Successful applicants will be offered positions as an Attorney 1 (starting salary-$65,000.00), Attorney 2 (starting salary-$75,000.00), Attorney 3 (starting salary-$85,000.00) or Attorney 4 (starting salary-$85,000.00) depending upon their prior experience. Applicants are strongly encouraged to include a cover letter that articulates in detail which, if any, of the preferred qualifications that they possess.

The Office of Legal Services is located on the GDC’s beautiful campus in Forsyth, Georgia. It is an easy commute from Atlanta’s southern suburbs or north from the Macon area.
