Senior Human Services Program Specialist

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Children and Families that any applicant beingconsidered for employment must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check as a condition of employment before beginning employment,and, if applicable, also be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and Chapter 408, F.S. No applicant may beginemployment until the background screening results are received, reviewed for any disqualifying offenses, and approved by the Agency. Backgroundscreening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement(FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies.

DESCRIPTION

This is highly responsible and professional work which includes the assessment of training needs, development, coordination, and presentation of professional training program activities, and assistance in the administration or monitoring and technical assistance activities developed to assure

program consistency and uniformity at the service area level for the Northwest Region.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of professional experience in health, social, economic, or rehabilitative programs.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience as required above can substitute on a year-for­ year basis for the required college education.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plans, organizes, and conducts in-service; policy update; pre-service training which is designed to provide an employee in Economic Self-Sufficiency the basic program knowledge required to administer a variety of programs.
  • Utilizes and develops supplemental material for core training packages from the CentralProgram Office by analyzing, evaluating, and understanding the skills, attitudes, background,abilities of the available program personnel and then selecting the most appropriate trainingdelivery system.
  • Designs supplemental training programs to meet specialized in-service / pre-service training needs,including appropriate curricula and supportive material.
  • Provides consultation, technical assistance, on-site visits, assistance in problem resolution,follow-up evaluation and training, etc. to Economic Self-Sufficiency supervisors andspecialists.
  • Provides assistance to the service area management staff in interpreting and implementingstatewide policy and procedure.
  • Assists in the implementation of the annual quality management and assurance plan inconjunction with other Economic Self-Sufficiency staff.
  • Participates in the region decision making process by recommending changes in region program policy to ensure conformity with statewide policy, procedures and guidelinesestablished by the Secretary.
  • Complies with and monitors compliance (when applicable) of the mandatory requirements inSection 215.422, F.S. and Chapter 3A-24 of the Florida Administrative Code.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
