MANATEE SPRINGS STATE PARK

This position is centered on day-to-day park operations focusing on facility maintenance and customer service but has some rare opportunities to be exposed to other facets of the park including : visitor education, resource management, and other projects.

This position will be needed for 29 hours a week and does not have health insurance!

Manatee Springs State Park proves boardwalks aren’t only for the beach. The park's 800-foot boardwalk runs through a majestic cypress forest overlooking one of Florida’s breathtaking first-magnitude springs.

True to its namesake, manatees can be seen in the cooler months, and birds, mammals and fish are spotted year-round. The park also offers 8.

5 miles of nature trails and a safe connection to the 32-mile Nature Coast State Trail.

Your Specific Responsibilities :

This position is centered on day-to-day park operations focusing on facility maintenance and customer service but has some rare opportunities to be exposed to other facets of the park including : visitor education, resource management, and other projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Knowledge of :

  • correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar usage
  • basic arithmetic
  • basic filing

Skill in :

  • computer applications such as MS Office
  • be able to fill in short reports and communicate effectively with internal emails and timesheets
  • interest in providing top-notch visitor services through the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and high-quality visitor contact experiences
  • cash handling and operations, using a point of sale system
  • operating trucks, tractors, operating mowers, standard power and manual tools

Ability to :

  • perform cleaning and grounds keeping duties and apply maintenance trades
  • work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends
  • perform routine inspections
  • communicate verbally and in writing
  • perform physical labor and janitorial duties
  • use power / electrical / gas tools and equipment
  • deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner
  • deal with people and maintain good public relations
  • notify the public rules and regulations
  • prepare and keep accurate reports
  • maintain a valid driver’s license
  • follow verbal and written instructions
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • understand and apply directives, policies, laws and regulations
  • identify and investigate problems and maintain facilities and equipment

Minimum Qualifications :

Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications :

Skill in performing prescribed burns and usage of chainsaws.
