SCHOOL BASED SEALANT PROGRAM

OPEN COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITY

 This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.

This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This OPS Dental Hygienist will be responsible for providing dental preventive care and oral health education in the clinic setting and/or in the setting of a mobile school-based sealant program.

Duties and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Provides preventative oral care and oral health education to patients and community partners.
  • Provides instruction/education to patients in preventive oral/dental health techniques.
  • Provides dental assessment and oral hygiene instructions to participating clients.
  • Completes and maintains patients’ medical records.
  • Performs dental hygiene related work (per Florida statutes) as required.
  • Provides dental sealants and fluoride varnish as required in the outreach program.
  • Participates in set up and break down of equipment and supplies for the school-based sealant program.
  • Maintains a professional representation of the program with the school staff and community partners.
  • Provides other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. 
  2. Licensed as a dental hygienist in accordance with Chapter 466, Florida Statutes.
  3. One (1) or more years of experience working with pediatric dental patients.
  4. One (1) or more years of experience with placing dental sealants.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. An Associate's degree from an accredited university or college.
