POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Network and Information Security group within the Bureau of Information Technology Services. This is a full-time position that serves as a network administrator of all FDLE managed networks. This position works in conjunction with members responsible for security of FDLE information resources. This position requires the ability to work in a collaborative environment, perform independent research, and a desire to learn new emerging technologies. The position also requires excellent facilitation and customer service skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Supporting FDLE and CJNET wide area networks;
  • Supporting the Local Area Networks including switches, load balancers and cabling;
  • Supporting Voice over IP and Telecommunication Systems;
  • Supporting Advanced Firewalls;
  • Supporting Intrusion Detection Systems;
  • Supporting the Virtual Private Networks (VPN);
  • Supporting Video Conferencing Systems;
  • Supporting Network monitoring and management systems;
  • Providing support for internal as well as external network customers to resolve any network issues or interruptions that may prevent connectivity to the Criminal Justice Network; and
  • Troubleshooting duties will include VoIP, firewalls, routers, switches, circuits and cabling.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of computer software and hardware;
  • Working knowledge of voice and data circuits;
  • Working knowledge of voice and data cabling;
  • Working knowledge of Voice over IP communications;
  • Working knowledge of operating system and/or telecommunications concepts;
  • Working knowledge of DNS;
  • Working knowledge of routers, switches and firewalls;
  • Working knowledge of load balancing and content switching;
  • Ability to define, and prioritize work projects; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

BASE SALARY:

  • $50,000.00

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant’s immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment and education verifications (which includes official transcript(s)), drug screen and fingerprinting. This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.

Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
