This advertisement is for a SES position located at Central Office in the Office of Health Services.

Salary Rate: $93,000.18 - $96,873.92 annually

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists Chief of Nursing Services with statewide oversight of Clinical Contract Monitor Program to ensure timely institutional audits of contract and program requirements related to; health care records; health care operations; and the overall delivery of nursing services. Completes standardized reports on contractor compliance with contract performance measures; performs ad hoc audits as indicated.
  • Provides technical and clinical guidance to clinical contract monitors for nursing.
  • Analyzes reports to ensure that the review and monitoring of corrective action plans for findings identified through contract related audits are completed in a timely manner.
  • Formulates policy, procedure, standards of care and standards of professional performance for the department and Office of Health Services-Nursing Services.
  • Conducts periodic analysis of clinical contract monitoring program for nursing to ensure quality, relevance, and effectiveness of the program.Uses monitoring results and quality assurance data to identify potential best practices and barriers to service delivery at the institutional, regional, and statewide levels. Provides technical assistance and education to contract nursing staff on department policy, procedures, and standards of nursing care.
  • Works with contractor leadership on problem resolution.
  • Represents OHS nursing at meetings, hearings, trials, conferences, and seminars or on boards, panels, and committees.
  • Collaborates with other departments as needed to facility FDC’s strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for oversight of statewide nursing services in the absence of the Chief of Nursing Services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of community resources and organizations.
  • Skill in the application of nursing theory.
  • Ability to evaluate care delivery.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Skilled in working on a PC with a Windows operating system.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of nursing operational and management practices.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and work independently.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, relating to nursing operational and management analysis activities.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a current employee with the Florida Department of Corrections
  • Must possess an unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida, Chapter 464, F.S
