Special NotesTwo (2) years of professional experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, or in a law enforcement agency is required . An associate degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for the requiredprofessional experience.
Additional Requirement
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Preferences
  • Experience in criminal intelligence, financial analysis, military intelligence, investigative analysis, and/or or working in a law enforcement agency.
  • Experience in any of the following components of analysis: financial analysis, forensic analysis, statistical analysis, crime analysis.
Must be willing to work hours other than the core work hours of 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. to assist with search warrants and preparation of court documents.
Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal & written skills that meet a critical need of the agency’s mission.

This position requires a security background check which includes a financial credit report, and fingerprinting. Our Salary & BenefitsThe salary for this position is $36,000.00 annually.

Brief Description Of DutiesIf applicable, (Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.)
The Division of Investigative and Forensic Services encompasses all law enforcement and forensic components residing within the Department of Financial Services. With this broad responsibility, the division investigates a wide range of fraudulent and criminal acts including insurance fraud, worker’s compensation fraud, fire, arson, and explosive investigations, misuse of State funds, and fire and explosive sample analysis.
Direct Assistance To Investigators
  • Performs criminal history and intelligence checks with reference to investigations for all sworn personnel as directed. Directly supports and assists investigators in the compilation and analysis of confidential information regarding insurance fraud and arson investigations and recommends specific investigative directions based upon such information. Performs detailed research of criminal investigations and documents relating to insurance fraud and arson.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and criminal intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources, and utilizes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies. Coordinates inter-state and intra-state information pertaining to criminal activity involving insurance fraud and arson, and exercises judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated.
  • Evaluates and analyzes criminal intelligence information to predict the capabilities, intentions, and vulnerabilities individuals and groups of individuals engaged in insurance fraud and recommends investigative strategies.
Prepares Written Reports And Recommendations
  • Prepares oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments and detailed factual reports used by agency management and field supervisors to evaluate investigative priorities in case development.
  • Determines structure and operation of insurance/arson operations by thoroughly researching and analyzing intelligence information relating to patterns, trends, and movements of the groups for use by management.
  • Participates in search warrants by sketching site diagram, logging evidence, printing evidence labels and inventory lists.
Resource Coordinator
  • Serves as Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) for FCIC/NCIC terminal, ensuring proper procedures are followed regarding security and dissemination of criminal history information.
  • Serve as resource person and respond to requests for information from other agencies and represent the Division in meetings.
  • This position may require participation on the disaster team, overtime, and the ability to attend meetings, training, conferences, and seminars, which may require extended travel to other areas.
