Interviewing Clerk position located at Key West, Florida

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of clerical or public contact experience.
  • A college education from an accredited institution or vocational / technical training can substitute at a rate of 30 hrs.

per semester, 45 hrs. per quarter or 710 classroom hours for each year of the required experience.

Previous experience working for the Access Program is preferred. Bilingual preferred

Special Note : English / Spanish preferred .

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Interviews / screens applicants for public assistance programs to gather their information as part of their application.
  • Work at the Front Desk with direct contact with the public to assist them and guide them according to their needs.
  • Selects and refers eligible applicants to public assistance or other programs.
  • Records, evaluates applicants and recipient’s data to determine initial or continuing eligibility.
  • Prepares regular and special reports as needed.
  • Prepares and assists applicants in completion of routine intake and personnel forms.
  • Interviews and screens clients for program eligibility and schedules appointments within established procedures.
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned by the supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Knowledge and application of the policies, procedures, laws and programs governing the agency.
  • Ability to speak clearly and correctly, and to communicate with others to obtain and verify information concerning eligibility.
  • Analyze and interpret written, numerical, and verbal data from various sources.
  • Be detail oriented and enter data accurately into a computerized system.
  • Navigate through computer screens, and complete and review basic computer documents and other forms.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Prepare, clear, concise and accurate records and other documentation.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.
  • Be proficient in the use of the computer including exceptional typing skills.
  • Follow written and oral directions and instructions.
  • Plan and organize to ensure work are completed in accordance with regulations relating to eligibility and timeliness.
  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness and organize and maintain filing system.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT :

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Children and Families that any applicant being considered for employment must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and, if applicable be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.

S., and Chapter 408, F.S.

No applicant may begin employment until the background screening results are received, reviewed for any disqualifying offenses, and approved by the Agency.

Background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies.

Employees are subject to background re-screening at least every five (5) years.
