Employment Security Representative II

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The Career Consultant (Employment Security Representative II) will market employment and training programs; serving individuals who are unemployed and/or seeking new jobs; providing career counseling services to individuals with vocational needs by determining vocational interests, aptitudes, and training; referring individuals to appropriate private and/or public agencies for aid, assistance or training; and or securing the cooperation of employers in the placement of referrals.

  • Coordinates the provision of labor exchange services to eligible persons including intake and assessment, counseling, testing, job search assistance, referral and placement.
  • Promotes, develops and facilitates training opportunities and labor exchange services within CareerSource Center.
  • Promotes, follows up and monitors the placements of qualified job seekers.
  • Works with Business Services Department to assist employers with matching qualified job seekers and placement services.
  • Identifies and recommends to the immediate supervisor actions and services needed to maintain compliance with established regulations, directives and procedures.
  • Provides specialized professional employment services to individuals needing more customized services.
  • Conducts file search on all assigned job orders received to assist employers with finding qualified job seekers.
  • Provides direct assistance to job seeker such as resume assistance, job search, arranging for skills assessments, Labor Market Information (LMI), etc and documenting all activities in the appropriate system.
  • May coordinate the Trade Adjustment Act (TAA) program and services to include case management, program support, recruitment, coordination with other state TAA Coordinators and school representatives, and program updates from local and state TAA program managers.
  • Performs all duties of Customer Service Specialist and Employment Security Representative I when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.

  • Ability to speak clearly and correctly.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to promote employment programs/activities via telephone or personal contacts with employers and community organizations.
  • Ability to prepare reports relating to employment security activities.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Minimum:

  • Must possess or obtain certification as a Workforce Professional within one year of employment in the position.
  • Occasional local travel throughout the county and/or infrequent travel outside of the county may be required; must furnish own transportation.
  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.

Pay:  $37,131 - $40,314 Annual

The Employment Security Representative II serves as a Career Consultant providing customer service in the CSCF center to career seekers to advise of services and programs, referring to employment and training opportunities.

QUALIFYING QUESTIONS
