COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE (CPW) 
Our Mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado's natural resources. Primary responsibility is to support the State Invasive Species Program Manager through administrative work such as accounting, bill paying, filing, maintaining inventory, answering phone calls, public speaking, preparing materials for field training, loading and unloading vehicles, reviewing and editing technical reports and participating in the development of maps, training materials, educational materials, and protocol manuals. This position will also be required to regularly assist with watercraft inspection & decontamination. This work is completed independently or on teams to inspect and decontaminate boats voluntarily coming to the official site, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels. The position will provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting the office. Duties include collection, preservation and proper documentation of possible ANS specimens brought into the office by customers. Finally, this position works very closely with the Program Manager and helps with a large variety of tasks as they arise.
Hours will be from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. A small amount of weekend work is required.
  • B.S. in natural resources/botany/fisheries/wildlife or other natural resource field OR at least 1 year completed coursework toward a degree in the field is desired.
  • Previous experience performing administrative duties.
  • Previous experience performing technical writing, editing, and document management.
  • Previous experience writing and analyzing surveys and survey data in comparison to duties.
  • Previous experience with customer service.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word applications and Google.
  • Experience with ArcGIS preferred.
  • At least 6 months experience performing data entry, with fast and accurate typing ability. 
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to prioritize and multi-task are required.
