Substitutions:
Appropriate education above and in addition to that required for the professional engineer license will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five (5) or more years of professional experience in civil engineering, floodplain management or an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position, one of which must have been as a licensed professional engineer.
Willing to travel to various meetings in state and out.
Experience with developing floodplain maps and hydraulic models.
Experience working with large scale program management.
Experience with event planning for diverse stakeholders.
Experience helping contractors and teams create public-facing studies or research.
Experience with hazard mitigation including flood response.
Experience working on water, flood hazard and climate issues with disproportionately impacted communities and/or indigenous communities.
Masters degree in civil engineering or related fields.
Certified Floodplain Manager certification.
Experience working with management of federal grants.
