Department Information

The University of Northern Colorado is located in Greeley, Colorado, population over 100,000, an hour's drive north of Denver, and within driving distance of the Rocky Mountains. UNC has an enrollment of over 12,000 students who attend classes on the 250-acre campus, and is large enough to provide true University opportunities, and small enough to treat students and employees as individuals. Position Summary:

This position supports the operations of the university through application support for specific systems and through business process improvements and automations. This specific role will be the primary contact for specific applications/solutions (including, but not limited to, Slate). The Business Analyst & Developer will also provide support to functional areas through general business analysis services and the development of custom solutions and process automations. This role is also asked to configure applications, produce and maintain documentation, and provide break/fix support.

Job Duties:

Application Support 40%

Deploy, configure, and support third party applications used by a variety of campus stakeholders. Understand user needs, sector best practices, and policies/guidelines to configure systems accordingly. Apply system updates, make configuration changes, troubleshoot issues, provide break/fix support, and develop/maintain documentation. Examples of supported applications include (but are not limited to) Slate, eRezLife, Lenel, Power BI, etc.

Business Analysis and Development 30%

  • Analyze business processes by communicating with functional users, understanding the purpose of the process, and recognizing both needs and pain points for operational staff.
  • Identify opportunities to improve or streamline current processes. This may include automating manual steps, removing bottlenecks, eliminating redundant or unnecessary tasks, etc.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions to realize the potential improvements identified during the analysis. This often involves writing code to streamline or automate some or all of the business process.
  • Create and maintain documentation for business processes and technical solutions.


Code Development and Maintenance 20%

  • Design, develop, test, and deliver code needed for various projects. Programming languages may include Python, SQL, Java, HTML, XML, FOCUS, and others as needed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot, enhance, or adjust existing code as needed.
  • Document code with inline comments where appropriate. Use designated tools for general documentation and version control.

Vulnerability Mitigation 5%

Use IM&T tools and resources to identify and remediate vulnerabilities on systems or servers that BAAS supports.

Innovate and Evolve Skillset 5%

Proactively learn and adapt skillsets based on continuously evolving technologies, business processes, software updates, user needs, and/or institutional priorities.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
Four (4) years of appropriate related experience or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment plus one (1) year of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position. A combination of required education and required experience that yields a five-year equivalent will also be considered.
Substitutions:
Training or certification related to the work assigned to the position will be considered as a substitution for the required experience and/or education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, HTML
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Banner
  • Experience using Slate or similar tools to build population queries, email campaigns, content with Liquid Markup, and hierarchical security groups
  • Experience using PowerBI and other Microsoft Power Apps

Appeal Rights: (Updated)
