Colorado School of Mines is currently seeking an experienced, motivated, customer service-oriented individual with strong written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of Fire Life Safety Systems to join our team. The function of the Fire Life Safety Technician (Pipe/Mechanical Trades II) is to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, replace, rebuild, install, test, inspect, and modify existing fire protection systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Three years of experience of experience in pipe mechanical trades which relates to the duties of this position as described above.
Must have sufficient computer skills to enter work orders into a computerized work order system, use email and perform basic spreadsheet and word processor computer work.
Substitutions:
Appropriate education or successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS OR OTHER DOCUMENTATION TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THIS SUBSTITUTION.
Necessary Special Requirements
A current Colorado driver license is required and must be maintained during employment. A copy of your current motor vehicle record (MVR) will be required as a condition of hire. Must be physically able to perform strenuous physical labor including lifting 100 pounds. A Colorado Backflow Tester Certificate must be obtained within 6 months of hire date. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior relevant experience working for the State of Colorado
A current Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Sprinkler Fitter Registration
A current Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Backflow Registration
A current Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Fire Inspector I or II
A current NICET III
