Job Summary:

This position will be support the Grants Office with the establishment, development, modification/amendment and monitoring of projected budget allocations for identified contractors and sub-recipients.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
  • Establish, develop and modify/amend projected budget allocations including variables, rates, timetables, personnel and material costs for identified contractors and sub-recipients; monitor and ensure maximization of grant funds; and maintains and prepares financial or project documents and collecting critical information needed to account for funding purposes.
  • Review and monitor identified contractors and sub-recipient's submission of invoices, requests for reimbursement, reports and related documents for accuracy. Ensures compliance of federal and state statutes, laws, rules and regulations for grants management. Works with relevant divisions within the Department for the submission of financial reports.
  • Compile past budget expenditure figures, estimate forecasts and projections and determine new budget figures for the planning of future budget periods. Confers with agency officials in order to make determinations for budget development and planning.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with identified contractors and sub-recipients, internal staff and grantors; coordinates and facilitates stakeholder meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of:
  • Principles and practices of administration with special reference to organizations, fiscal management and budgetary control
  • Federal and State Grant regulations and procedures
  • Accounting theory, principles and practices and their application to grant administration
  • State and federal reporting requirements
  • State financial and budgeting policies and procedures
  • Intermediate financial analysis concepts
  • Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive

  • Performing mathematical computations and general office tasks
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets
  • Analyzing and evaluating budget requests
  • Verbal and written communication of complex concepts

Selective Preference(s):

The selected candidate must have two years of work experience equivalent to Budget Control/Development Specialist 1.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance.
Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from DCS Central Registry.
