State of Alaska is Hiring a Public Assistance Programs Officer Near Anchorage, AK

What you will be doing:
As the Chief of the Child Care Program Office, your role will be critical in developing, managing, and administering Alaska's Child Care programs. You will serve on the Division's senior leadership team under the general supervision of the Deputy Director and participate in planning, directing, and monitoring the programs and services provided by the Division of Public Assistance (DPA). This is a supervisory position.

The Child Care Program Office (CCPO) strives to assist families in accessing quality childcare, ensuring that children are safe and that healthy childcare is available and affordable for all families in Alaska. CCPO is the primary agency responsible for overseeing the Federal Child Care Development Fund (CCDF), including the regulation and licensing of childcare facilities. Furthermore, CCPO promotes childcare quality through grants to Child Care Resource & Referral agencies and administers the Child Care Grant Program.

The position is located at the Child Care Program Office (CCPO) in Anchorage, Fairbanks or Juneau depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate.
You will be working alongside experienced staff who share the same goal of supporting CCPO's mission. The job involves both in-office and fieldwork, as well as some travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities in

  • Federal and state laws, regulations, and policies governing the administration of public assistance programs;
  • Budgetary and fiscal practices related to public assistance programs; and
  • Public relations, personnel administration, and office practices, methods and procedures
equivalent to those typically gained by:
Professional experience in the administration of public assistance programs; interpretation of public assistance eligibility requirements or regulations; or administration, management, or supervision of an automated medical payment system, such as may be gained in a hospital, large medical clinic, or medical insurance company.
