T he Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Construction & CIP Support is looking for an Engineering Technician Sub-Journey 2 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing: Under the direct supervision of a Project Engineer, this position is responsible for performing and documenting the inspection of field work and serves a vital role on construction projects administered by DOT&PF. These duties will include calculating asphalt spread yield, collecting weigh station tickets, assisting in computing earthwork quantities and material tonnage, measuring temperatures of asphalt mix, collecting materials samples and performing minor materials testing, performing basic engineering calculations by hand or computer, and collecting traffic data. During project closeout, you will assist the Project Engineer in preparing and reviewing project records, preparing project materials records for review and approval and correcting discrepancies, calculating and posting pay estimates, and filing documentation.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is based out of the Western District Construction office in Nome, Alaska. During the summer construction season, the workplace is typically in a project-specific field located at assigned construction projects in Nome or other communities within Western District.
This position requires travel depending on the assigned construction project for the project duration, 4-9 months per year.
