Under the general direction of the Regional Maintenance and Operations Chief, this position oversees and manages the Valdez District.
This position directly supervises two highway foremen, two airport managers, and two administrative staff while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, department policy and budgetary authority. This position is responsible for $5.2 million in annual operating funds and $1.0 million in annual Capital Improvement Project funds. The incumbent is responsible for approximately 400 lane miles of roadway, four maintenance stations, thirty staff positions, two part 139 airports, two rural community airports, and corresponding equipment fleet for the district.

Our office provides a fun, team-oriented atmosphere, conveniently located in Valdez. Our office environment is a balanced mix of office and teleworking staff who support our foremen and operators who provide 24/7 coverage in winter months and generally five days a week service in summer. The Maintenance and Operations environment can be fast paced with frequently changing conditions, and priorities can change in an instant; a successful applicant will change along with them.
