What you will be doing:
This position serves a multitude of functions and will be responsible for the seasonal maintenance of roadways and wayside facilities. As a vital member of our summer maintenance and operations crew, duties will include flagging and traffic control for maintenance crews performing work on the roadway, and establishing and removing traffic control devices, installing, repairing, and replacing permanent traffic signs. You will operate light duty vehicles such as pickups, lawn tractors, and four-wheelers, as well as hand tools to dig holes and shovel asphalt and dirt. Some manual labor duties include but are not limited to, cleaning culverts, cutting brush, picking up litter, patching potholes, cleaning and stocking roadside facilities, and loading and unloading trucks. This position may be requested to work on various crews under numerous projects.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located in Cantwell, Alaska. As part of the Cantwell Maintenance & Operations team, the selected candidate will perform numerous seasonal highway traffic control and maintenance and operations tasks within the Denali District boundaries, along the beautiful and scenic Parks Highway. The Maintenance and Operations environment can be fast paced with frequently changing conditions, and priorities can change in an instant; a successful applicant will change along with them. This is a hands-on, in-the-field position that won't keep you locked to a desk all day.
