General PurposeUnder general supervision, provides on-campus transportation to students with mobility-related disabilities; and performs related duties as assigned.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. - Provides full access to college campus for students with mobility impairments by driving a mobility cart over determined routes based on a daily schedule.
- Assists with, prints and follows daily transportation schedules; arranges student pickup/delivery schedules to ensure consistency with student class schedules; ensures timely pickup and delivery of students, enabling access to classes, meetings and college resources; prepares transportation reports.
- Loads and unloads students on/off mobility cart; assists students in wheelchairs to access the vehicle; uses seatbelts and other safety equipment; ties down wheelchairs; adheres to appropriate sections of the California Education Code and Motor Vehicle Code when transporting students and supplies.
- Assists the department and its testing center by delivering examinations and other material, as directed.
- Inspects vehicle to ensure readiness for safe operation; cleans and performs basic maintenance on the mobility cart.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of historically minoritized groups and participates in professional development activities to increase cultural competency to enhance equity-minded practices within the District.
OTHER DUTIES- May assist in the training of new drivers.

Employment Standards / Minimum QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of:- All District and FCC campus buildings and other facilities, the locations of classrooms, offices, meeting rooms and student services, and the safest, most efficient driving routes to reach each location.
- Operation and basic maintenance of a modified multi-passenger golf cart.
- Proper care and handling of students with mobility disabilities.
- Safe driving methods and safety standards/procedures related to assigned duties.
- Applicable sections of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code.
Skills and Abilities to:- Inspect and safely operate the District's mobility cart.
- Assist, load, secure, transport and offload disabled students in a safe, thoughtful, caring and effective manner.
- Accurately follow transportation schedules and routes.
- Understand and apply District and college policies and procedures.
- Effectively engage and support historically minoritized groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Operate a computer and use standard business software.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all those encountered in the course of work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEGraduation from high school or GED equivalent and at least one year of driving, working with the public and working with individuals with disabilities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSA valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance program.

Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this class, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel and operate objects, tools and controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Mental DemandsWhile performing the duties of this class, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve basic problems; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or new skills; work under deadlines with interruptions; and interact with students, college/District staff and the public.

The employee works near moving mechanical parts and equipment in outdoor weather conditions; works in traffic; and may be exposed to extreme heat and moderately cold weather. The noise level is moderately noisy.
The employee may be required to travel to locations other than assigned work site and to adjust to work schedule changes and requirements to work overtime.

APPLICATION REVIEW AND ASSESSMENTSThe application review process includes an evaluation of training and experience based on given application information and answers to supplemental questionnaire. Only the most qualified applicants, who pass the minimum qualifications review, will be invited to the assessment process.
The assessment process will include a performance assessment (100% weight). Of those who pass the minimum qualifications review, only the most qualified candidates will be invited to the performance assessment. Passing score is 75% out of 100%.

ELIGIBILITY LISTCandidates who attain a passing score on each part of the assessment will be placed in rank order on a Fresno City College Open-Competitive List. Using the same process, a separate Promotional List will be established and both Lists will be used concurrently.
