JOB TITLE:  Program Director

DEPARTMENT: Women’s Enrichment Center

REPORTS TO: Department Director

POSITION STATUS: Exempt-Full-time - 40 hours per week

SALARY: DOE

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Women’s Enrichment Center (WEC) is an intensive day treatment program for women uniquely designed to address substance abuse and mental health issues with a strong focus on the treatment of trauma. Clients attend WEC for 5 days a week (11:00am – 2:30pm Monday through Friday). WEC provides group and individual therapy and case management to link clients with resources relating to housing, job skills, finances, parenting, family therapy, and medical and dental needs. Daily psychoeducational and process therapy groups address topics including recovery, trauma, emotional regulation, health and wellness, parenting, and other life skills. We use a wide range of modalities to provide holistic, strength-based treatment.

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Manage clinical Substance Use and Mental Health treatment services for clients; participate in the growth and management of a long-standing and highly regarded intensive, trauma-informed program with over 20 years history in San Mateo County.

Clinical services include individual and group psychotherapy and psycho-education in an intensive, day-treatment setting serving dually diagnosed women. Perform diagnostic, social, and cognitive assessment to assist in treatment planning. Coordinate Women’s Enrichment Center clinical staff to provide ethically appropriate, theoretically sound, culturally informed, and holistic interventions to address client issues and enhance client strengths. Management responsibilities include oversight of day-to-day operations, recruitment and oversight of clinicians, group therapists, administrative assistant and van drivers and collaboration with Department Director to ensure that high quality substance abuse and mental health services consistent with the agency mission are being delivered.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Demonstrable and verifiable clinical skills and experience in providing successful direct services to clients including diagnostic assessment, individual, and group therapy and harm reduction intervention.
  • Strong ethical principles reflected in practice, including a thorough understanding of client confidentiality requirements.
  • Understanding of diversity issues, willingness to explore self in relation to these issues, and ability to provide culturally informed therapeutic services to diverse clientele.
  • Strong management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to tactfully and genuinely hold and communicate a management perspective in addition to seeking staff input and demonstrating sensitivity to staff concerns.
  • Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Ability to work as a team member when necessary to accomplish tasks supporting the agency’s mission.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All Women’s Enrichment staff report to the Program Manager/Director. Oversight and support of intern/trainee staff at WEC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Board registered MFTI, ASW, or Post-Doc; licensed preferred
  • Demonstrable and verifiable skills, abilities, and qualities commensurate with specific position requirements

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Management experience 
  • group therapy experience 
  • experience working with substance abuse, trauma and the severely mentally ill
  • Experience of Medi-Cal documentation
  • Lived experience of trauma or substance use
