Starting Point Child Care Resource and Referral Agency is Hiring an Early Education Program Specialist (Family Child Care Homes) Near Cleveland, OH

Position Summary:

The Early Education Program Specialist reports to the Director of Family Child Care Systems and provides technical assistance, coaching, and training to licensed Family Child Care Homes (FCCH) to improve and maintain the quality of services to children and families. Strong relationship-building skills as well as a comprehensive knowledge of child development principles and child care best practices are essential for this role.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Plan and implement technical assistance visits within child care settings to support staff in implementing best practices for early care and education across all aspects of the childcare business.
  • Exercise and/or model a variety of approaches, techniques, strategies, resources, and innovative thinking to support programs in finding solutions to challenges.
  • Conduct environmental rating scales as needed.
  • Work with childcare staff to assist with individual professional development goals.
  • Work internally with FCCH department to coordinate professional development opportunities or specialized training for child care professionals (e.g. scheduling, staffing, etc.).
  • Develop and deliver specialized training aligned with the Early Learning and Development Standards and the Ohio Core Knowledge and Competency Standards involving the latest research-based practices in early education.
  • Integrate research-based best practices for adult learners.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of work.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate evening and weekend work-related events.
  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications (Minimum Requirements):

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related area;
  • Five (5) years or more of experience in the early childhood industry is a plus;
  • Experience training adult learners;
  • Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Familiar with state child care licensing regulations and tiered quality rating improvement system;
  • Comfortable with use of technology such as case management systems, Zoom, and Microsoft Suite tools (Word, Power Point, Outlook,), etc.;
  • Available to attend overnight statewide training/meetings;
  • A valid Ohio driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation is required;
  • Must clear the Ohio Bureau Criminal Background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
