Job Overview:
We are seeking graduating high school or current college students with lacrosse playing and/or coaching experience to join us as practice coaches for our summer 2024 season. Practices will begin in June at a location in Danbury.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct skills assessments of current players and help tailor instruction based on abilities
- Provide individualized coaching and instruction to help athletes improve their skills
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants
- Teach proper techniques, rules of the game, and game strategies to improve lacrosse IQ
- Monitor and assess progress and provide feedback for improvement to the player, their family, and head coaches/program directors
- Manage behavior and maintain discipline during training sessions or competitions
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff members to coordinate schedules and events
Experience:
- Previous lacrosse playing experience required (3 years); previous coaching experience at the youth level strongly preferred
- Knowledge of child development principles and behavior management techniques encouraged
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff members
- Strong leadership abilities to motivate and inspire student athletes
- Ability to adapt coaching techniques to meet the needs of individual athletes
- Organizational skills to manage schedules, equipment, and training sessions
