Starlight is gearing up for new shows and events and we are looking for an energetic and hard-working "Stars" to join our Operations team as Grounds-Day Crew!

Our daytime crew members shoulder the bulk of the responsibility for the daily operation and physical appearance of Starlight Theatre. Grounds crewmember will work with Starlight’s grounds team, maintaining the landscape throughout the 16-acre theatre. Work assignments are primarily outdoors working in all-weather elements.

This position works three to four days per week, during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but these hours may vary depending on weather, events, holidays and other factors. (Maximum 30 hours per week).

Essential Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Hand-watering, planting, mulching, weeding and maintenance of plant and flower gardens.
• Soil testing, pruning, transplanting, propagation, fertilizing, chemical selection and application.
• Irrigation (lawn sprinkler) operation, maintenance and repair.
• Lawn care (mowing, trimming, etc.) and other green-industry tasks.
• Ability to properly care and maintain hand and power tools including small engine repair and fueling requirements (40:1 & 50:1 fuel mixes) relevant to the above tasks.
• Other duties may include assisting in scheduling, ordering and procurement of supplies, and proper care and maintenance of hand and power tools relevant to the above tasks.

Occasional assistance to our operations and facilities teams include, but are not limited to:

• Waste and recycling collection and disposal.
• Restroom and general facility cleaning including power washing, mopping, scrubbing, hosing down the seating bowl with a high pressure hose, sanitizing, stocking and use of cleaning chemicals.
• Event setup and breakdown.
• Assisting other departments on projects as they arise to maintain the theatre in pristine shape at all times.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Able to work independently, as well as part of a small but critically important team.
• Must be self-motivated and flexible.
• A problem-solver.
• Ability to work early mornings, days, weekends, holidays and extended hours.
• Knowledge of laying out landscaping plans a plus but not required.
• Forklift certification, as well as a safe operating record, is preferred but not required.

Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate power lawn/landscaping equipment.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to use ladders up to 30 ft. and work comfortably at heights exceeding 25 ft.
• May need to crawl, crouch, balance, stoop, kneel or stand for long periods of time.
• Willing to work a demanding schedule of 32 hours per week.
