Stark & Stark has an opening for a Collections Specialist to support our firm in its new, state of the art office in Hamilton, NJ. The ideal candidate is self-directed and detailed-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The right candidate will have the extraordinary opportunity to continue their professional development in a challenging, but collegial, environment.

 Responsibilities:

  • Periodically review status of client accounts with the assigned billing attorneys and group leaders to review matters and develop action plans.
  • Proactively identify potential collection issues.
  • Monthly reminder communication.
  • 15-day soft touch calls to all new clients.
  • 45-day gentle reminder calls to new and ongoing collection clients.
  • On-going communication with clients entering 45-60 days past due.
  • Monitoring accounts receivable and recommending accounts to escalate for collections.
  • Maintaining detailed records of steps taken to facilitate payments.
  • Perform analysis to assist group leaders in maintaining current accounts.
    • DSO analysis
    • Collection rate (3mo, 6mo, 1yr)
  • Assisting with researching, analyzing, and resolving client inquiries.

 Qualifications:

  • Collaborative work ethic.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • Five years of previous law firm collections experience (preferred), or other professional services organization.
  • Proficiency with Word and advanced Excel skills.
  • Must have capacity to follow up on client accounts with minimal supervision.
  • Motivated self-starter with high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiating skills.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Persistence
  • Familiarity with Rippe/Surepoint preferred.
  • Previous experience interfacing with law firm partners and clients is a plus.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
