Description

StarCare Specialty Health System seeks to hire aTeam Lead for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Team at VetStar-Amarillo (the veteran services division of StarCare). 

Team Lead Responsibilities:

  • Under the moderate supervision of the Veteran Programs Director, the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Amarillo Team Leader provides administrative and operational leadership to SSVF staff to facilitate timely and quality programming.
  • The position will lead the provision of SSVF diversion and housing program services in an assigned catchment area. Assist the supervisor in devising and staffing office and outreach duties on a regular schedule to maintain quality programming.
  • The position will be based in Amarillo and cover the following counties: Armstrong, Briscoe, Carson, Castro, Deaf Smith, Donley, Gray, Hall, Hutchinson, Parmer, Potter, Randall and Swisher.
  • The position will provide SSVF services to maintain quality programming and maintenance of a case load when necessary to manage the flow of consumer interest.
  • Assist in providing response and reporting for critical incidents involving consumers. 
  • Lead community activities and programs including Continuum of Care (CoC) Coordinated Entry Planning and the Point-In Time Count.
  • Lead the Intake, Enrollment, and Outreach Specialists in regular production of quality Housing Priority and By-Name Lists (HPL and BNL). 
  • Coordinate services and programming with supportive services providers and partner agencies including landlords, VA HUD-VASH, and StarCare.
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of supportive service providers with a focus on mental and behavioral health, aging, and disability services for staff consumption. 
  • Assist staff in preparing timely documentation and records for review and approval by the Veteran Programs Director and ensure the timely reporting of services.
  • Monitoring consumer participation in SSVF diversion and housing services by regularly updating internal program reports, case conference reports, SmartCare, and the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Complete Texas Homeless Network HMIS user and coordinated entry trainings and maintain access certification.
  • Coordinate and monitor regular peer file reviews.
  • Advise the program director on file quality and related issues and recommend changes to policies and procedures to facilitate quality improvement. 
  • Managing program consumables, equipment, and office supplies, including file custody and record management, submitting purchase orders and requests, managing supply logs, and maintaining equipment.
  • Manage a company purchase card within StarCare’s financial management guidelines. 
  • Assist the program director in devising policies and procedures to inform community members, partner agencies, and stakeholders of program service updates and changes. 
  • Train staff in VetStar customer service standards with a focus on Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Mentor staff and collect and monitor consumer satisfaction and assist the program director in collecting and monitoring consumer satisfaction. 
  • Train staff in SSVF diversion and housing intervention service policies and practices.
  • Mentor staff and assist in troubleshooting barriers and identifying resources for veteran families with complex housing needs with a focus on rural veterans, chronically homeless veterans, frail elderly veterans, veterans fleeing domestic violence, women veterans, and veterans experiencing serious mental illness.
  • Assist in training staff in SSVF case management policies and practices, including the creation and monitoring of S.M.A.R.T. goals, the provision of temporary financial assistance, and record keeping and documentation.
  • Mentor staff in developing their case management knowledge and assist the program director in continuing to educate staff on changes to policy and procedures.

Schedule:This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department. This position works on-site and must live in the Amarillo area.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in Human Services or a related field is preferred.
  • Some college and/or high school diploma and two (2) years experience in Human Services will be considered.
  • Preference will be given to a Veteran or member of the U.S. Armed Forces (any branch), an experienced veteran caregiver, or someone with direct work experience with state or federal military and veteran programs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Skill in operating standard office machines (telephone phone, fax, copier, calculator, etc.) and personal computer with intermediate or greater experience with the standard Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Some regional travel is required. Milege is reimbursed at the state approved rate.
  • The selected candidate must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license, and be insurable under agency insurance.
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
