Description

StarCare is in search of a qualified individual to work at the Lubbock County Detention Center as a Women's Forensic Rehabilitation Specialist.

The Forensic Rehabilitation Specialist serves incarcerated women at the Lubbock County Detention Center in a classroom and individual setting. This position provides education over a variety of topics following approved curriculum, collaborates with outside agencies, Lubbock Sheriff's Office (LSO) employees, and other StarCare employees to ensure services are comprehensive and best fit for the Consumer. This position organizes and conducts comprehensive treatment teams that are individually tailored to meet the needs of the individual. The educational and skill building groups includes, but is not limited to: Medication Education, Dual Diagnosis, Conflict Resolution, Anger Management, Expressive Arts and Writing. Additionally, this position coordinates with Psychiatrists, PNA Staff, Jail staff, Special Needs Defender’s Office, other appropriate staff at StarCare Center. Work is conducted under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Forensic Mental Health- Jail Services and the Director of Forensic Mental Health. Moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment is expected.

Forensic Rehabilitation Specialist responsibilities:

  • Conducts educational and skill building groups for women incarcerated in the Lubbock County Detention Center including but not limited to: Medication Education; Dual Diagnosis; Conflict Resolution; Anger Management; Expressive Arts and Writing) – minimum 2 groups daily to also include individual sessions as needed.
  • Provides Crisis Intervention as needed
  • Provides individual counseling as needed
  • Collaborates with LPDO and StarCare Outpatient Services in reentry planning
  • Serves as a consultant with all jail mental health staff.
  • Coordinates with Psychiatrist, PNA Staff, jail staff, and other appropriate staff at StarCare.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall reentry goals and treatment plans for all assigned individuals.
  • Facilitates a collaborative biweekly treatment team meeting for identified individuals needing medication management.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm with flexibility to meet the needs of the program.

Pay Incentives

Upon completion of first 30 days $500
6 month work anniversary $500
12 month work anniversary $1,000
24 month work anniversary $2,000

Qualifications


  • Master’s Degree in a human service-related field with applicable licensure to include Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Master of Social Worker-Advanced Clinical Practitioner (LMSW-ACP), preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in a human service-related field with applicable associate licensure, required.
  • One (1) year of full-time experience in a related field, preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.

Local travel, with mileage reimbursement, is required. Must have current Texas driver’s license and be insurable under the Center's auto liability insurance. Must pass pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check. Must be able to pass Lubbock County Detention Center security clearance.
