Job Location: Sunrise Canyon Behavioral Health Complex--1950 Aspen Ave - Lubbock, TX
Position Type: Part-Time
Salary Range: $15.00 Hourly
Travel Percentage: Local Travel/Less than 25%

Description

StarCare is in search of a qualified and compassionate Mental Health Peer Specialistto provide supportive services to adults.

Responsibilities Include: 

The Mental Health Peer Specialist provides services to adults in the community and in clinical settings that are related to an approved individual plan of service. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Adult Outpatient Services, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

  • Work with the adults identified support team in development of an individualized plan of care.
  • Plans, develops, and implements education, peer mentoring and support activities (groups)for consumers and family members on issues related to treatment of serious emotional disturbance.
  • Ensure clients are aware of resources necessary to reach personal outcomes; communicating pertinent clinical information
  • Provide face-to-face contact with clients
  • This position ensures all activities support the Vision, Mission and Values of StarCare Specialty Health System.

Hours: Part-time, between the hours of 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, with flexibility to meet program needs.

Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Must be person with serious emotional disturbance and have sought treatment (lived experience).
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) with one year of related experience, preferred.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, be compassionate, and have a desire to help people who are struggling with mental illness.
  • Must be able to attend required training and work assigned schedule.
  • Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, copier, fax, etc.,) and personal computer with Microsoft Office products is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of human service delivery systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize a variety of assignments and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with clients/families, other employees, and the public.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must have a Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
