This job contributes to Starbucks success by developing and managing unique creative design concepts for Starbucks retail operations with a focus on the partner experience. Provides a leadership role in the development and implementation of the Starbucks brand, creative objectives and design process to enhance the Starbucks Experience for retail and support partners, while innovating best in-class, meaningful design. Summary of Key Responsibilities Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results. Manages creative team by providing coaching, direction and leadership development in order to achieve partner, business and customer results. Formulates and implements creative and design objectives that meet company and business unit strategy. Provides creative direction and leadership for all design projects for assigned clients. Guides internal and external design teams in developing initial concepts and participates in design work when appropriate. Provides added value to the strategic design discussion with clients based on an understanding of their business goals. Collaborates with management team to evolve overall visual strategy. Consults with cross-functional teams on cost-saving opportunities and implements appropriate changes. Executes department plans to meet company targets for budgets, project schedules and deadlines, as well as departmental guidelines. Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization. Prioritizes and communicates department objectives to team. Sets and maintains the professional standards required to meet business unit/department and company objectives. Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results. Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews. Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements. Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions. Basic Qualifications Professional experience with a design firm, advertising agency, or in-house creative department (6-8 years) Managing a creative team in a creative environment (2 years) Experience managing large-scale projects and teams in a matrix organization (5 years) Preferred Qualifications An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating visual/graphic design solutions Expertise with typography, form and color sensibilities Ability to foster teamwork among diverse groups and disciplines Ability to plan and manage schedules for multiple tasks Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment Knowledge of and ability to articulate creative development processes Creative problem-solving, strategic thinking skills Able to spark creative thinking in team and others to challenge the status quo Ability to leads effective brainstorming sessions to spark big idea thinking An understanding of technology solutions that drive innovation and efficiency in design organization If you live in the Seattle, WA area, we offer a flexible workplace that allows for hybrid work.
