Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced armed security officer to join our team as an Overnight Armed Security Officer responsible for patrolling a designated school district during nighttime hours. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safety and security of school facilities, personnel, and students during overnight periods when the campus is less active. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional vigilance, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining a secure environment conducive to learning.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct routine patrols of designated school district premises during overnight hours, including school buildings, parking lots, and surrounding areas, to detect and deter unauthorized access, vandalism, or other security threats.
2. Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to identify any suspicious activity, intrusions, or potential security breaches, responding promptly and appropriately to address concerns.
3. Enforce school district security policies and procedures, including access control measures, visitor screening protocols, and adherence to designated security zones.
4. Respond swiftly and decisively to security alarms, emergency calls, or reports of disturbances, intervening as necessary to de-escalate conflicts, provide assistance, or coordinate emergency response efforts with law enforcement agencies.
5. Collaborate closely with school administrators, campus security personnel, and local law enforcement officials to coordinate patrol routes, share information about security concerns, and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
6. Maintain accurate records of patrol activities, security incidents, and observations, documenting details in written reports and logging information into appropriate databases or systems.
7. Conduct thorough investigations of security incidents, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed incident reports to document findings and support follow-up actions.
8. Provide assistance and support to students, faculty, staff, and visitors during overnight hours, including escorting individuals to designated areas, providing first aid as needed, or offering guidance in emergency situations.
9. Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to school security, attending training sessions and professional development activities to enhance job knowledge and skills.
10. Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and departmental policies governing the use of firearms and other defensive tactics, prioritizing the safety and well-being of all individuals at all times.

Qualifications:

1. Must possess a valid state-issued armed security officer license and maintain any required certifications or permits.
2. Previous experience in law enforcement, military, or security-related field, with demonstrated proficiency in firearms handling and use.
3. Strong knowledge of security principles and procedures, including access control, surveillance, and emergency response protocols.
4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse populations, including students, parents, and community members.
5. Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with a high degree of situational awareness and problem-solving ability.
6. Flexibility to work overnight shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the school district's security needs.
7. Must have 2/3 non-lethals (Baton, OC Spray, or Taser)
8. Physical fitness and agility to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting or carrying of heavy objects.
9. Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all aspects of the job.
10. Must have a duty belt, body armor, level 3 duty holster, and handcuffs. 

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience working in a school or educational environment, with knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing school security.
2. Additional certifications or training in emergency medical response, crisis intervention, or conflict resolution techniques.
3. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or other languages commonly spoken within the community.
4. CPR/AED certification and familiarity with basic first aid procedures.
5. Experience working with children or adolescents in a mentoring, coaching, or counseling capacity.
