The Project Manager for Portfolio Strategy and Analytics has a key role in supporting the analytics for our growth strategy and articulating the results in a clear & concise manner/Story tell to help with key business decisions

You must be a highly analytical self-starter to drive results for Staples US Retail. This role will be proactive in contributing to business decisions. As we look to reinvent business support, this person must act with agility and be comfortable with change. You will prepare materials for senior leadership to be used in strategy development and decision making. This requires analytical/quantitative skills, attention to detail and strong written communication skills (including PowerPoint). You will also serve as the analytical muscle conducting ad-hoc analysis intended to deep-dive into results to identify issues and make recommendations on how to drive improvement in KPIs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support and insight for strategic initiatives within the organization
    • Financial reporting and analysis in support of brand defining stores and lab store initiatives
    • In depth analysis on future initiative store and market roll outs
    • Conduct ad hoc analysis for leadership on a weekly basis
    • Synthesize insights for leader presentations and strategy planning
  • Drive organizational utilization of the Enterprise Promotional Platform (EPP) while acting as primary project manager for merchant and planning teams
    • Establish consensus among groups on key priorities, balancing business need with development asset availability in support of quarterly priority review process
    • Develop and adhere to realistic development and rollout timelines for major releases, system enhancements, and fixes
    • Act as lead trainer for merchant and planning organizations by facilitating group trainings and feedback sessions; identify and escalate potential issues as appropriate for immediate resolution
    • Manage timely and clear communications between key stakeholders
    • Serve as subject matter expert in go-forward planning and development cycles
  • Act as trusted advisor for ongoing Seasonal Strategy with intense focus on waving strategies
    • Provide guidance and best practices for driving efficiencies in operationalizing wave strategies
    • Quantify financial impacts of the waved season compared to anticipated shoulder seasons
    • Provide ad hoc weekly reporting on seasonal results
  • Design and roll out reporting structures to support unique merchandising and signage testing initiatives
    • Develop standardized testing methodology in collaboration with cross-functional partners
    • Provide test store recommendations in alignment with appropriate test vs. control testing environment accounting for geographic diversity
    • Create results reporting templates & shells designed for easy adoption by business for ongoing self-serve reporting
    • Maintain weekly reporting on all initiative stores and provide ad hoc deep dive analyses
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business-related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of analytical experience supporting cross-functional business relationships
  • Excellent working knowledge of PC Applications; Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Proven track record of identifying trends & opportunities within large, complex data sets
  • Ability to mentor, train, and help onboard new and/or junior colleagues
