Stantec is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Environmental Services Practice working within our Northern California region. The position is to be based out of our Sacramento, Roseville, Nevada City, Chico, San Jose, Tahoe, or Reno Offices; geographic alignment with other Stantec offices will be considered based on experience. Your Key Responsibilities

• Provide land use planning knowledge to support environmental review needs for public and private projects. Task duties may include environmental permitting, technical study support for a range of projects, environmental impact analysis support, coordination on biological and cultural assessment support, CEQA and or NEPA support, municipal zoning ordinance review, and land use planning and coordination for environmental projects. Experience with the review and development of project descriptions/scope of work, familiarity with environmental review process, permitting assessment process, and a general understanding of local municipal planning and/or biological resource constraints within the Northern California region is required.
• Support multi-disciplinary project/program teams in all phases of the execution and delivery of utility hydro operations and maintenance projects.
• Support project managers with task and project management, including scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Manage small projects and tasks of large projects, as requested.
• This position requires attention to details, strong skills as a self-starter, and an ability to participate in multiple projects simultaneously, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with MS Excel is a plus Ability to work with multiple disciplines is preferred. This role will also include support to project management teams on dynamic projects.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• 3 - 5 years of overall experience with; 3 years of experience performing environmental planning and permitting work
• Strong research, analysis, and reporting abilities
• Focused on detail-orientation skills and capable of managing large data sets
• Are self-starting, team-oriented professional with excellent written and communication skills
• Should be familiar with review and analysis of scientific data, maps, and drawings
• Experience with permitting and CEQA
• Provide support in delivering high quality work products to Stantec’s multi-disciplinary project teams

Preferred:

• NEPA experience
• CWA 404/401 permitting
• CA Fish and Wildlife 1600 permitting experience
• Experience working with multiple-discipline resource teams
• Ability to identify opportunities and build relationships with clients

Education and Experience

• BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Urban, Regional or Environmental Land Use Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field.

• SF Area $$40.53/CA Other Areas $$35.38 PH - SF Area $$58.75/CA Other Areas $$51.30 PH Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
