Stanford University is Hiring a Nurse Coordinator Near Stanford, CA

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Medical Genetics at Stanford University is seeking New Born Screening (NBS) Nurse Coordinator to work with the Area Service Center (ASC) program.

Duties include:

  • Calls out and tracks all complex positives; facilitates referrals for parents to physician offices, clinics, CCS special Care Centers, or CCS paneled specialists.
  • Handles NICU inadequates and earlies; Handles all Post Transfusion follow-up for those babies who have other positives on their screen. Analyzes patient data reports and formulates solutions for physicians in responding to positives.
  • Provides consultation and technical assistance to New Born Screening providers regarding response procedures for positives.
  • Assists with annual planning process and implementation of plan; Primary contact for hospitals in the region assigned by project director.
  • Functions as team leader for site visits and in-service training services; Reviews HEPPS and evaluates needs or assigned hospitals for in-service and site visits; Coordinates development and educational needs for assigned hospitals; Develops corrective action plans for assigned hospitals as needed.
  • Serves as clinical resource for NBS Program Specialist on call outs of non-NICU positives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills with cultural sensitivity, and ability to give presentations to groups.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including PowerPoint, Word, Excel required.
  • Familiarity with Newborn Screening Program is helpful.
  • Registered nurse licensed in California, with at least 1 year of pediatric, maternal/child health, neonatal, or public health experience, and bachelor degree in nursing, or other Licensed Health Professional with bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in a state newborn screening program.
  • CA Driver’s license

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours when on-call
  • The hours for this position are 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday. The person in this position will need to work during the Stanford University Winter Closure. The work location is at Stanford Menlo Park.
  • Must be able to travel within region and to occasional meetings.
    • Other duties may also be assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Nursing Degree vs.

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

  • Currently active CA Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Currently active CA Driver's License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the University reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is between $66,560 to $120,000 based on commensurate experience and background.
