Standard Farms is Hiring a Cultivation Technician Near Taunton, MA

Our Operations Division, also referred to as Commonwealth Alternative Care, is a market leader in the cultivation, processing, production, distribution, and sale of a wide variety of cannabis products. We operate two dispensaries in Taunton and Brockton, MA, and have a license to open one more in Cambridge, MA. In addition, through distribution arrangements, we have placed our products and those of hundreds of strategic partners into 50% of the dispensaries in MA.

Under the supervision of the Cultivation Manager or department lead, the Cultivation Technician will perform manual labor to assist in the upkeep, stocking, and fulfillment of growing medicinal cannabis, including, but not limited to, watering, feeding, pruning, cloning, cleaning, and transplanting. Attention to detail is significant in this role. The ideal candidate will excel as a team member within a tightly controlled, state-regulated system and timelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in harvesting plant material on schedule, including drying and de-stemming
  • Tend to the plants, including watering, re-potting, training, and movement of plant material and green waste.
  • Report to management any event or condition that might affect plant growth and development.
  • Perform tasks related to sanitation, decontamination, propagation, transplantation, harvest, trimming, etc., in a highly productive and efficient manner to maximize yield.
  • Monitor plants for pests and other threats with a keen eye to spot issues before they become a problem.
  • Wash and sanitize all equipment. Scout all equipment, ensuring all tools are free of pests, viruses, or disease.
  • Label plants and ensure that an accurate inventory is maintained consistently.
  • Verify the proper documentation has been completed with accurate information for activities performed.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in various sectors of the department as needed and requested by their direct supervisor; this may include but is not limited to helping grow staff with small tasks, cleaning and moving supplies and equipment, and assisting the packaging department or working at other locations as needed.
  • Continued education of marijuana strains, products, and the industry during downtime.
  • Always adhere to all safety policies and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Comply with industry compliance standards set forth by the state of Massachusetts.
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate ethical behavior; build positive team relationships throughout your department and the rest of the organization.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Understanding of essential cultivation, horticulture, or agriculture.
  • Basic computer skills, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets.
  • 1 years of live goods growing experience (preferred).
  • Experience with large-scale, indoor grow operation (preferred).
  • Knowledge of growing techniques, including Germination, Cloning, and Transplantation (a plus!).
  • All candidates must be ready, willing, and able to work a fully flexible work schedule to include days, nights, and weekends to meet fluctuating business demands based on the individual department's needs.
  • Every job applicant must pass a comprehensive background check, including the mandates of the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission. A job offer issued before the completion of a background check shall be contingent upon a positive result. A negative background check result may lead to a job offer withdrawal.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Able to lift 65 pounds and be able to maneuver between growing tables that are 24 inches apart and repeatedly carry 15-20 pounds the length of warehouse/greenhouse.
  • Able to stand for extended periods and kneel, stoop, bend, and twist in tight areas.
  • Able to work in hot, humid environments for extended periods with exposure to dust, allergens, and water.
  • Repetitive use of hands for all functions.
