Date Available: 06/20/2024 Summer Colleg Prep Academy Coaches = 8 Needed Overview: The road to college application completion is an intensive, multi-step process. In starting the application process early and in the summer before senior year, it allows students to complete critical milestones leading to early application completion. In completing applications early, students have the most time to explore colleges and make the best informed process. In order to support our students in this goal, we are offering a Summer College Prep Academy. This no-cost summer program offers meaningful opportunities to proactively help students complete their critical milestones with a trusted adult partner in the building during the summer. Position Summary and Essential Job Functions: The Summer College Prep Academy Coach will facilitate a classroom including instruction and progress monitoring their assigned students during [high school]’s College Prep Academy. The ideal candidate will be passionate around supporting college access for all students and college application completion. Position Objectives: The College Prep Academy Coach will play an integral role in ensuring the program: Leverages codified tools and resources Produces positive student/staff feedback Improves college application completion rates Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Participation in Training Program Development Participates in training and professional development to assist with learning and understanding the college application process in greater depth. Assist in providing feedback and asking process questions on the lessons and activities for students. Facilitation Student Management Facilitates lessons around college application milestones and support students through structured work time to complete milestones Develops relationships with students to create a positive learning environment and a supportive place for students. Progress Monitoring Track students’ daily attendance Collect feedback from students, families and staff to assess the program’s impact Required Knowledge, Skills and Characteristics: Some knowledge both the college application process and the landscape of college access but a strong willingness and desire to learn required Strong belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, mental or physical disability, and religious background of all students, faculty and staff, and with all individuals encountered in the performance of required duties Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication Willingness to work collaboratively Ability to master new content quickly Ability to motivate and inspire students, families, and school staff Positive attitude and sense of humor Required Education and Experience: Current [high school] educator Fluency in Spanish preferred
