Stabilus is a global leader in the production of gas springs and dampers on five continents. Our products can be used in a wide variety of industries, such as the automotive and office chair manufacturing industries, furniture technology, solar industry, medical technology, and many other industrial applications.

Job Summary:

Overall, the responsibility of a receiving clerk is to ensure that all incoming shipments are received, inspected, recorded, and stored accurately and efficiently. This helps to maintain a smooth flow of goods, minimize inventory discrepancies, and facilitate effective communication within the organization.

This is on 1st shift which is from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. There may be opportunities to work some overtime on weekends. The position will be located at our U.S. Corporate Headquarter location in Gastonia, NC.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Receiving and inspecting shipments: The receiving clerk is responsible for physically receiving the shipment and inspecting it for any damage or discrepancies. They may need to count and weigh the items to ensure they match the delivery documents and report any discrepancies to the appropriate department or supplier.
  • Unpacking and organizing: After inspecting the shipment, the receiving clerk needs to unpack it and organize the items in storage bins or designated areas. They may need to use specialized tools or equipment to handle heavy or bulky items safely.
  • Recording information: Accuracy and attention to detail are critical in this role, so the receiving clerk must record all incoming shipments in a computer system or on paper documents. This information typically includes the date, supplier, invoice or purchase order numbers, and other relevant details.
  • Notifying appropriate parties: If any issues or discrepancies are found, the receiving clerk must promptly notify the relevant departments or individuals. This could include the purchasing department, warehouse manager, or shipping/receiving supervisor.
  • Managing paperwork: In addition to recording the receipt of goods, the receiving clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all related paperwork. This includes filing copies of invoices, packing slips, and any other relevant documentation.
  • Coordinating with other departments: The receiving clerk often works closely with different departments, such as purchasing, accounting, and warehouse, to ensure the smooth flow of goods and information. This may involve communicating order status, providing updates on delays or issues, or coordinating delivery schedules.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization: The receiving area needs to be kept clean, organized, and free from obstacles. The receiving clerk should regularly clean and arrange the shelves or storage areas to maintain an efficient and safe working environment.
  • Following safety protocols: The safety of employees is paramount, so the receiving clerk must strictly adhere to workplace safety guidelines and procedures. This may involve wearing protective equipment, using equipment properly, and following safe lifting and handling practices.

Job Requirements

Education, Training, Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Must have 1-2 years of experience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Must have at least 6 months experience and be proficient operating forklifts. Previous material handling equipment certification preferred.
  • Applicant must be able to identify all customer specific parts and prepare accordingly.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to investigate discrepancies is mandatory.
  • Good attendance record is required.
  • Strong basic math skills and ability to communicate well with supervisors and team.
  • Weekend work and extended shift hours will be required as needed.
  • Support of receiving weekend inbound STMX deliveries is required.

Job Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of warehouse processes, procedures, and safety standards
  • Good computer skills. Previous experience with warehouse systems and RF scanners preferred.
  • General inventory control, FIFO, Cycle Counting and KAN-BAN principles.
  • Knowledgeable of 5S and Lead Manufacturing Principles
  • Language Skills

Must be able to communicate effectively.

  • Reasoning Ability

Must have good reasoning ability.

  • Mathematical Skills

Basic mathematical skills a must.

  • Contact with Others

Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of associates including management.

  • Resourcefulness and Initiative

Performs operations with recognized procedural methods. Most tasks are routine in nature.

Working Conditions:

  • Warehouse environment with continuous forklift operation present
  • Standing, walking, and bending will be performed for the entire shift.
  • Exposure to dust and a variety of weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
