Graphic Arts Designer/ Staff Photographer

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing graphic design work at the professional level, creating art and copy layouts.

Essential Job Functions:

• Determines size and arrangement of content and copy; selects style and size of type; and arranges layout based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and esthetic design concepts.
• Determines style, techniques, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and to conform to specific instructions.
• Discuss design/layout at various stages of completion and make changes as necessary.
• Determines project specification (i.e. size, type, paper wt., ink colors, folds, cuts, etc.), including costs and completion dates.
• Take high-quality photos during a wide variety of important Aviation events.
• Produces designs into printing-quality artwork for print production.
• Present the finished layout to the Project Lead for approval.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge and experience of Adobe Creative Suite.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Knowledge of camera equipment.
• Knowledge of pre-press techniques.
• Knowledge of design and graphic principles.
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and budget limitations.
• Ability to visually interpret the design needs of project leads.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to prioritize projects assigned.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position.
