STAAR Surgical is Hiring an Associate Director, North America Clinical Applications Near Minneapolis, MN

Main Job Responsibilities / CompetenciesThis position provides management and execution of clinical applications resources to deliver on-site and remote clinical support to customers within the assigned territory, with the goal of increasing surgeon and clinic confidence and adoption of STAAR products.
  • Provides management and oversight of clinical applications team members and resources to conduct on-site and remote training activities to the surgical team.
  • In partnership with direct supervisor, develops a sustainable process for onboarding new practices within the POD structure.
  • Manages and conducts ongoing clinical training and education follow-up support for new surgeon customers and clinics following initial certification.
  • Defines process and facilitates onboarding of new Clinical Application Specialists within the assigned territory.
  • Maintains tracking of Clinical Application Specialist metrics, including for the CAS Incentive Plan, and impact within North America.
  • Conducts job coaching of Clinical Application Specialist team, including co-travel.
  • Attends medical conferences as assigned.
  • Trains / speaks at medical education activities at defined clinics and conferences as needed.
  • Participates in the dissemination of key clinical marketing messages (STAAR news & highlights, latest clinical research and journal articles, new products and developments) and educates on usage of this material to improve adoption of ICL and support commercial use.
  • Participates in the identification of potential surgical practices and customers.
  • Follow up of customer complaints with our Clinical Department in order to enhance the current time frames and accuracy in reporting claims.
  • Conducts regular field visits with the North American Clinical Applications Specialists team.
  • Facilitates the introduction of new products and innovations to customers, through the CAS team.
  • Oversight of the clinical applications team to monitor the progress of surgical practices by maintaining close contact with surgeons, optometrists and clinic personnel.
  • Manages CAS team involvement, in coordination with Professional Education team, in local educational events (including dedicated ICL events, wet labs, User Meetings, Symposia, etc.)
  • Works closely with Territory Managers, Practice Development colleagues, and Professional Education team members in the coordination of business activities to meet the annual objectives
  • Travels up to 50%.
  • Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsEDUCATION & TRAINING
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Optometrist background strongly preferred.
Experience
  • 5 or more years in a Clinical Applications role.
  • Similar position in the past 5 years.
  • Background and experience in ophthalmic surgical and clinic settings.
  • Supervisory/Leadership experience strongly desirable.
Skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different individuals at all levels, results driven, organized, professional manner.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
  • Strategic planning skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid passport for travel within region.
Pay range is $150k - $210k - Final compensation will depend on experience.
