St Vincents Services Inc is Hiring a Coach Supervisor Near Brooklyn, NY

The HSVS Coach Supervisor will take ownership of the multiple aspects of the current educational, social, and emotional supports provided to youth in foster care enrolled in the American Dream Program. The Coach Supervisor will be responsible for providing a clinical lens to the trauma-informed coaching provided to ADP College scholars, and help the Education Coaches asses the suitability of the educational, and well-being needs of the ADP Scholars to ensure they can successfully achieve educational, employment, and housing goals. The Coach Supervisor will be able to support the implementation and model fidelity of the Fair Futures goals and steps framework and the Bottom Line College Success curriculum and resources. The Coach Supervisor will directly serve youth and also have their own caseload of youth, supervise a team of 4-5 Coaches, supervise the data collection and entry of their team, and manage the administrative systems for ADP College. The Coach Supervisor will work closely with the Director of Youth Development, other departments within HSVS, and external stakeholders such as ACS, Advocates for Children, the Fair Futures Coalition, and many more.

The Coach Supervisor will report directly to the Director of Youth Development and be a part of the Office of Youth Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses positive approaches when handling difficult situations. Avoids gossip and negative discussions. Remains flexible and adapts to change.
  • Serves as role model for program participants. Abides dress code. Conducts self in a professional manner at all times.
  • Remains sensitive and responsive to cultural differences of program participants and staff. Participates in in-service trainings and on-site workshops as required for professional growth and development. Attends external trainings and workshops at direction of management. Represents the organization both within and outside of the work environment in a manner that promotes the mission, vision and values of the agency. Personally, adheres to organizational mission, vision and values, in addition to all other agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Coaches conduct monthly check-ins utilizing the Fair Futures goals and steps model, and the Bottom Line college success curriculum for all youth.
  • Connecting with school teams and attend meetings regarding ADP Scholars.
  • Support and develop resources for the coaching program.
  • Provide support and training to College Coaches to improve the quality of their coaching, services provided, and improve ADP outcomes.
  • Enter and lead data entry for Fair Futures Platform and Connections for all targeted services youth.
  • Fulfill the Fair Futures\Care4 Platform and Connections supervisory responsibilities. Including reviewing all data and progress notes on the Platform and Connections. Ensure all data is updated and accurate.
  • Support and plan projects, events, and workshops.
  • Ensure Coaches are providing trauma-informed Coaching and Support to their youth.
  • Assign youth referrals to the Coaches. Occasionally, review their caseload to ensure youth are being engaged weekly, monthly in the Coaching program. Assign and Reassign youth to different Coaches as needed.
  • Provide compassionate, supportive, and trauma-informed college coaching and advisement to post-secondary youth, and over aged youth. Supervisors will work directly with some youth to provide targeted services.
  • Attending all virtual meetings, trainings, and workshops related to role.
  • Maintain relationships with college staff, and external stakeholders such as ACS, Fair Futures Coalition, CUNY, College Choice, and New Yorkers for Children.
  • Ensure ADP Coaches support ADP youth apply to all scholarship, leadership, and funding opportunities. This includes targeted support to youth that are interested in applying to the types of opportunities listed above.
  • Assisting the Director of Youth Development with the planning of YoDe team meetings, events, and workshops.
  • Creating and approving check request for educational expenses.
  • The Supervisor will also meet with the Director of Youth Development regularly to receive supervision. During this session, the Supervisor can provide an overview on Coach progress, raise any concerns, and request assistance in any areas.
  • Master's degree required
  • At least five years working with youth and children required.
  • At least two years of Supervisory experience required.
  • At least two years of experience working in a foster care setting required.
  • Full-time-35-40 hours per week with flexibility to work evenings. Hybrid availability
  • Experience required working in social work and\or the education, and foster care setting.
  • Experience working with youth and teams to support the education and foster care systems.
  • Experience required managing teams and administrative systems.
  • Experience required in program development and implementation.
  • Experience required with special education, education team meetings, and student advocacy.
  • Experience required with leading workshops and trainings.
  • Flexibility with traveling to the five boroughs.
  • Experience preferred in college access and college success programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Computer Skills - excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and databases including Microsoft Access.
  • Operating Skills - flexibility in working on assignments, stays on task and meets deadlines, strong analytical skills, creative and critical thinker, and ability to stay organized. Experience and confidence with recruiting, training, managing teams, working with data, and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Personal & Interpersonal Skills - self-motivated, team player, able to relate with teens and young adults, able to manage stress, and able to see value in and promote diversity in others. Passionate about delivering friendly, flexible, compassionate, and effective services to youth in foster care. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners. Engaging public speaker. Ability to manage events and workshops.
