St. Vincent Depaul Society of Lane County is Hiring a Kitchen Worker Near Eugene, OR

Kitchen Staff

Over the last 68 years, SVdP has grown from a volunteer-led non-profit to the largest human services agency in Lane County with more than 600 employees. Our mission is to assist the poor and those in need of consolation, seeking out and utilizing every resource. Being mindful of the sanctity and dignity of all, any charitable work that advances those goals is within the mission of SVdP Lane County.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, and serve in accordance with Food Safety Regulations and compliance with FFLC
  • Ensure the kitchen and dining areas are safe, secure and organized
  • Remove all food service trash and recycle to outside container
  • Rotate perishable food items
  • Clean guest dining and food serving area
  • Order food through FFLC and take inventory weekly
  • Clean fridge and food storage areas (Family, community and staff fridges)
  • Meal prep and ability to cook a full for meal with little notice if we have an expected gap in volunteer meal coverage
  • Clean dishes, counters, deep clean floors and trash receptacles, cupboards, walls, floors, etc.
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Multitask between tasks
  • Swing/week-end shift
  • Ability to talk and work with children and families
  • Ability to give directives and follow through with compliance of site guidelines.
  • Comfortable speaking with various church or volunteer groups bringing dinners
  • This list is not all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Be able to cook meals
  • Experience in institutional or large food service setting preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 35-50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hour shifts

Schedule: Friday - Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
