St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore is Hiring an ASSISTANT DIRECTOR SARAHS HOPE Near Baltimore, MD

SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall leadership of the case management department. Responsibilities include hiring, training and supervising Case Manager(s), Children’s Coordinator, and Youth Workers. In addition, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing and implementing the enrichment education program works collaboratively with the volunteer coordinator in this area. The Assistant Director, in collaboration with the Director of Sarah’s Hope Mount Street, is responsible for ensuring the highest level of performance of all staff on all shifts and that the clients have excellent care based on the SVDP model of Trauma Informed Care, Crisis Prevention and Mediation. The Assistant Director works in collaboration with the Case Manager(s), the Director of Front Door, and the Assistant Director of Cottage Avenue to ensure for coordination of all aspects of resident transitions from shelter to permanent housing. This position acts in the capacity of Director in his/her absence.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Hire, orient, train, supervise and evaluate the Case Manager(s), Children’s Coordinator, and Youth Workers, assisting in the development of a detailed Individual Service Plan (ISP) for each client, in collaboration with the SHMS Case Manager(s). In collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator, develop and implement the enrichment education program offered to clients.
  • Ensure the highest quality of programming occurs for healthy relationships with families, adults and children at Sarah’s Hope Mount Street. Create a culture that is inviting, culturally competent, fair, predictable, and homelike.
  • Ensure that all staff adheres to the principles of Trauma Informed Care, Crisis Prevention and Mediation.
  • Develop and provide a program of ongoing training for staff.
  • Conduct routing face to face supervision of staff, no less than once a month. Develop programs for staff incentives and retentions to maintain a positive workplace morale.
  • Develop and implement a consistent system of rewards and consequences for clients and ensure that they are monitored and evaluated in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure the appropriate documentation is kept and read on residents including, but not limited to, progress notes, incident reports, and daily logs.
  • Monitor progress of and assist families with daily needs such as referrals, transportation, advocacy, and additional ongoing support.
  • Develop and conduct support groups and workshops.
  • Collect monthly statistics and submits to Program Director on a monthly basis.

SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Keep updated on most effective means of accessing services available within the larger community and maintain an active data base for referrals and community partners.
  • Create a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers, ensure that they are used effectively to meet program goals, and provides direction to staff on how to incorporate them into their work.
  • Attend and fully participate in all necessary staff meetings, other internal and external meetings, as well as meetings with on and off-site service providers.
  • Create an atmosphere of care and respect for clients.
  • Attend meetings and events related to St. Vincent de Paul and the Center.
  • Uphold the vision, mission, and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
  • Other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s in Social Work or related field; preferred Master’s degree in Social Work field with licensure;
  • 3 years successful, hands-on experience working with persons who are homeless and/or materially poor.
  • 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Willing and able to work in a high-energy environment, to be organized, and to prioritize the needs of participants and workload.
  • Knowledge of and respect for confidentiality.
  • Ability to relate in a respectful, comfortable, non-judgmental manner with persons from all ethnic, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds.
  • Desire and ability to work as a member of a team.
