JOB TITLE: Director – Communications, Marketing, and Events

MISSION STATEMENT: To be a beacon of light by transforming lives in the Vincentian spirit of charity, justice, and mercy through interpersonal connectivity.

SUMMARY: As part of the Development Department, the Director of Communications, Marketing, and Events reports to the Chief of Development (COD). Within a culture of generosity and philanthropy, the position works closely with the COD to create, and implement a comprehensive donor centric development plan that integrates communications, events, volunteerism, giving, and stewardship with a goal toward annually increasing private giving. Under the strategic and creative direction of the COD, the position will be responsible for managing and stewarding direct mail solicitations, on-line and monthly giving, social media, the St. Vincent de Paul CARES web site, internal and external print and electronic communications, and fundraising events. The position will represent the Development Department and the Agency at various community events; will assist with coordinating engagement between St. Vincent de Paul CARES Conferences and community organizations. The Director of Communications, Marketing, and Events ensures that the projects and programs for which she/he is responsible align with the organization’s strategic plan, fundraising goals and objectives. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed. Communications, Community Outreach, Fundraising, Stewardship 

· Produce and edit agency print publications and collateral; including, but not limited to the annual report, donor handouts, SSVF collateral pieces, and program collateral pieces

· Create and steward relationships with media outlets to benefit the goals and brand recognition of the organization

· Proactively communicate with the media to ensure SVdP CARES recognition

· Maintain graphics for fleet vehicles, and signage for agency

· Manage the donor database

· Manage constituent records 

· Assist with prospect research

· Manage in memory of donations

· Manage social media and electronic communications, and provide annual strategy for social media campaigns/communications with an emphasis on private engagement and investment

· Manage the website in coordination with IT, assess user analytics, and adapt messaging/functionality as appropriate to grow private engagement and investment

· Manage direct mail campaigns

· Manage the creation and delivery of external e-mail communications 

· Manage the stewardship for the department, inclusive of providing the Special Works Board with stewardship opportunities

· Ensure sponsorship, individual/corporate funding communications/marketing deliverables are met; i.e., press releases, web postings, signage, etc. 

· Provide text for marketing deliverables to COD/grant writers to include in proposals and grants upon request 

· Prepare and send annual tax letters to donors

· Prepare and distribute collateral and communications pieces for event invitations, promotions, advertising, programs, follow up communications, and planned giving 

· Create and acquire branded resources such as note cards, signage, etc. for donor relations and events

· Upon request, represent the COD in the community, and assist with community partner engagement 

· Provide agency tours to select groups when requested

Event Management

· Coordinates, implements, and provides post event assessments for 2 annual major fundraising.

· Manages event budgets.

· Provides support to, represents the agency at, and provides follow up reports/stewardship for third party fundraising events.

· Organizes special agency events, such as press conferences, open houses and dedications, and agency tours.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

· This position has a dotted line supervisory role to the data analyst in the IT department.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Comply with all applicable training requirements

· Comply with all company safety, personnel and operational policies and procedures

· Comply with work schedule to ensure effective operations of Agency programs 

· Contributes positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team

· Actively participate in the PQI System

· Performs other duties as necessary to fulfill the mission of St. Vincent de Paul CARES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

· This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited University and/or Communications experience. 

GENERAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Environment will occasionally become noisy due to equipment operations and interactions among clients and staff. There may be the possibility of being exposed to communicable disease, possible exposure to verbal abuse or similar behavior from residents/clients.
