St. Thomas Aquinas High & Middle School is Hiring a High School World History and Financial Literacy Teacher Near Louisville, OH

We are seeking a dynamic and engaging World History/Financial Literacy teacher to join our Catholic high school community. This unique role combines your love of history with the opportunity to equip (Juniors) with the financial literacy skills they need to succeed beyond the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • World History:
  • Develop and implement captivating lesson plans that explore the major events, figures, and movements that shaped the world.
  • Foster critical thinking skills by encouraging students to analyze historical sources, evaluate evidence, and construct well-supported arguments.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, simulations, and technology integration, to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Prepare students for success on standardized tests while fostering a genuine love of learning about the past.
  • Financial Literacy:
  • Develop engaging financial literacy lessons that complement your curriculum.
  • Introduce students to essential financial concepts like budgeting, saving, investing, and responsible credit use.
  • Empower students to make informed financial choices for a secure future.
  • Work with Alliance YWCA and welcome them into the classroom when they teach classes leading up to the Poverty Simulation that takes place at STA in partnership with the YWCA and OSU Extension.
  • General Teaching Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respectful dialogue and active participation.
  • Design and administer assessments to gauge student learning and progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop a cohesive curriculum and share best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in History or a closely related field.
  • State teaching certification in History.
  • Minimum 2 years of successful teaching experience at the high school level (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of world history eras, events, and figures
  • Financial literacy and ability to teach it.
  • Engaging and dynamic teaching style that fosters critical thinking and student participation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • VIRTUS certification (will provide) and FBI/BCI background check.
