St. Tammany Health System is Hiring a Sterile Processing Specialist Near Covington, LA

Job Description And Position RequirementsScheduled Weekly Hours: 40
WORK SHIFT: M-F, evening shift, rotates on call, weekends, and holidays
JOB SUMMARY: Demonstrates competence in all aspects of sterile processing: decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, sterile storage, and distribution of sterile medical devices. Responsible for safe handling and care of equipment, instruments, and supplies. Tests, monitors, and operates all sterile processing sterilizers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school education or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience in any capacity in SPD/OR setting preferred, or successful completion of STHS apprenticeship. Sterile Processing experience preferred.
Sterile Processing (CBSPD or CRCST) certification within 12 months of hire:
- A certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Sterile Processing Technician or certification from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Sterile Processing applicant able to attain certification within 12 months of hire.
Physical Effort required:
Constant (67%-100%) - handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching
Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing, stooping, crouching
