Position Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and creative educator to teach the joy and importance of Physical Education. Candidates must be willing and eager to work with a wide range of learners, all of whom are admitted to the school through a selective admissions process.

Who We’re Looking for:

The connection and relationship between the teacher and student are the keystones of the classroom experience at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. Well equipped classrooms, thoughtfully planned courses of study, and effective guidance programs are very important ingredients, but the success of the school is dependent upon the enthusiasm and dedication of the teaching staff. Student-centered teachers are the school’s greatest assets!

Qualifications/Requirements:

At least a Bachelor of Arts degree in education or applicable area of study with at least one (1) year of P.E. teaching experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow a course of study developed by teachers in partnership with the administration.
  • Develop lessons that account for the diverse student learning modalities within a classroom, utilizing an array of teaching and assessment tools and resources.
  • Maintain a safe and engaging classroom environment
  • Manage the class by showing respect for students and by enabling students to maintain responsibility for their learning.
  • Communicate frequently and with clarity to parents/guardians via conferences, phone calls, texts, emails, and Class Dojo.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to build a positive and productive school culture for both students and staff.
  • Create a strong, supportive learning environment that prioritizes diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging.
  • Actively and continuously develop your teaching practice through pursuit of professional development opportunities and assumption of leadership roles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including lunch duties, helping with arrival and dismissal, etc

Employee Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $16,000.00 - $22,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience

St. Stephen's is a coed boarding and day school for students grade 6-12.
