Job Description

Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bonham, Texas, is seeking a part-time pianist. The Pianist will provide piano music for our Sunday morning worship service.

We welcome music students and recent graduates to apply.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide piano music at the Sunday morning service at 11:30 am.
• The Vicar will choose the music, with input from the Pianist.

Qualifications

• Sight reading proficiency.
• Understanding of the Episcopal Liturgy.
• Must be familiar with The Hymnal 1982 (Episcopal).
• Ability to lead congregational singing with excellent hymn playing on traditional and electronic piano.
• Commitment to serving God and God’s people.
• Welcoming, organized, and able to get on well with many kinds of people.
• Responsive to communication, especially email and text.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Parish Culture

Holy Trinity is a traditional Episcopal church in the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. We are a small and welcoming church made up of a core of committed members. The atmosphere at the church is non-judgmental and low-pressure. This is a great position for those looking to gain more experience in piano playing and church music.

We have one service on Sunday mornings, a celebration of the Holy Eucharist according to the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. Our hymns and service music are from The Hymnal 1982, though we will soon begin incorporating hymns from alternative hymnals like Lift Every Voice and Sing and Wonder, Love, and Praise.

We strive to sing well-known, easy-to-sing hymns from the broad spectrum of Episcopal, Protestant, and contemporary Catholic hymnody.

Job Type: Part-time (1 service a week. The service lasts about an hour).

Pay: $100 per service

Schedule:

• Sunday mornings required (11:30 am)
• Availability via email and text
• Occasional meetings with the Vicar for music planning
• Additional days/times during peak church holiday seasons
